Had some heavy rains here and I drowned my car a little. 2003 Saab 9-3. Unfortunately, once I realized the depth of the situation (huehue) going through the water was unavoidable. Also in my defense, many people went through both before and after me. Apparently I just suck at water crossings.
It stalled over a period of three or four seconds so I don’t think I actually hydrolocked it and bent a rod or similar. No water came inside. Because of the water or as a coincidence orchestrated by Satan himself, the starter has stopped engaging too. Which means I have to pay for a new starter which will take a few days to get here before I can see what else is damaged. I don’t think the engine is damaged but I’m worried and anxious :(

I did as much as I could. I had it towed to the mechanic and whacked it with a nice cop’s baton in the middle of the street but it’s difficult to get much hitting on it. It’s started for the past 120K miles so it may have been dying anyway.

rule 1 of water crossings - Don’t go just because the other guy went and made it.
